Fisk currently enrolls about 800 students. It has capacity for 1,000 students. Therefore, the University's goal is to enroll an additional 300 students per year. Often, colleges and universities need a multiple of three times the enrollment target in its applicant (and acceptance) pool in order to reach the desired enrollment.

The Class of 1972 pledged to recruit and mentor at least 100 students into Fisk University within the next five years -- by our 30th Anniversary Reunion. Each '72 Fiskite is to attend at least one career day, or some similar event for high school students, in each year for the next five years (5 visits to a high school) to promote Fisk and to share our Fisk experiences (and career stories) with the students. This is something each Fiskite should be able to easily do.

How do you do this? Well, we are still working out the details. But, the key steps are to:

• Request Fisk recruitment materials from the Alumni office in Nashville or your local Fisk Club.
• Get connected to perhaps your former high school, or adopt a local high school where you are currently living.
• Participate in a career day, or schedule a visit to one of the classrooms -- working directly with one of the high school teachers (often this is more personal and effective).
• Make Fisk materials available and offer your contact numbers for students to call and talk about: your career, going to college, going to a Black college, going to Fisk, or anything they want to talk about.
• Make yourself available to help fill out applications, answer questions, etc.
• Contact our class coordinators and give them a list of names of likely applicants so that we can track their applications.
